Description
The Surgical School of Preci born inside the Sant’Eutizio Abbey where Benedictine monks founded it and was officially recognized by the Church in 1215. The monks taught their art of medicine also to the inhabitants of the valley, that, thanks to past knowledge on anatomy and animal butchering, gave rise to dynasties of doctors of international repute.
The doctors of Preci knew their greatest period of fame in the sixteenth century when it began to specialize in the treatment of inguinal hernia, diseases of the eye and the urological. The museum of the surgical School of Preci is located in the former church of Santa Caterina, a building of the century XIII.
